There are people who seek to assuage their own pain by inflicting pain on others…making unreasonable demands that are impossible to meet, belittling, bullying. Sometimes it is best to close the door on these people, to not allow them to have reign over your life.
There is a quote from Marcus Aurelius that I love:
“The first rule is to keep an untroubled spirit. The second is to look things in the face and know them for what they are.”
Having the peace of knowing it is not about you is priceless.
But what if you find you are the person with the hurt, making everyone else around you miserable? How do you break that cycle?
I have been there and I have the answer.
Just fake it, people!
Fake it until you feel it. Sooner or later it happens…you find your joy buried in there somewhere. Or at the very least you start to reflect the joy you inspire in others.
I also find redecorating to be helpful…
