      • Had to look that one up “Dissociative fugue, formerly fugue state or psychogenic fugue, is a DSM-5 dissociative disorder. It is a rare psychiatric disorder characterized by reversible amnesia for personal identity, including the memories, personality, and other identifying characteristics of individuality.”

I should forgive myself as it is a rare disorder. πŸ˜€ I can be of some small help: you are a full time family doctor who works in a clinic that’s controlled by a medical conglomerate. You are married with two children whom you love dearly. Because you are an energizer bunny, you also write a regular blog and answer every comment (which is greatly appreciated by your readers).I am sure you will get your memories of us back sooner or later as we are such a lovable group. πŸ˜€

        Hope that helps.

      • I was watching a CBC documentary on psychiatrists who work in the prison system. The interviewer asked a predominate psychiatrist how they determine whether the patient is “cured” and the answer rather surprised and scared me.The psychiatrist said that treatment is not like medical treatment in that the purpose is to”cure” but rather the purpose of therapy and psychotropics is to help the person to be a functioning member of society. If that can be done then the patient no longer needs treatment. Yikes! One of the traits that make serial killers so nefarious and hard to catch is that they often appear completely normal, functioning members of society, except for that one minor trait of killing people.

Anyway, not sure we can cure you doc, but you free to go. Ha! .

  2. At first, I read the first word as “dislocation”, and thought you were talking about someone’s shoulder. πŸ™‚ Also, is the title pronounced “foo-goo”?

  3. I like the simplicity and brevity of this piece. The title says so much. I think everyone forgets themselves around somebody special. I also think long absence can be counterintuitive for some romantic relationships. What do you think?
